The Martial ARTS Through the Lense of DESIGN+ CREATIVITY. (part 1)

Why Bruce Lee is the ideal Design Director...

The Connection...

More and more over the years we've noticed there is a large void in the design world, which is true creative expression... With such an ambitious approach to creating for a by-product, so much is lost in the process. It's literally as if we take the approach, 'sell at all cost'. You probably get the point of where I'm headed already, but if not, the reason likely proves my point as to how bad this problem is...

Business as usual mentality/ because we've done it and been profitable this way tactics are numbing our spirits through a process of mechanical operation and bias reasonings that usually benefit those in power...

What happens when you operate in this manner year after year, on top of years and years?

You tend to breed + advance those with these same limited ideas + values; Suppressing opportunities for people to be inspired by new/ fresh/ game changing ideas that benefit more people involved vs. the current capitalistic approach.

As the world continues to unfold more and more, industries continue to create + operate in systems that confine us to specific boxes.

Bruce Lee's approach to martial arts was/is about using a cultivation of life experience to express oneself freely in the way most fitting for each specific individual.

Bruce Lee's philosophies and approach represent natural inspiration + purpose to not only become a better fighter, but to also create a better world.

TAO OF JEET KUNE DO:

“To put the heart of the martial ARTS in your own heart and have it be a part of you means total comprehension of the use of a free style. When you have that you will know that there are no limits.”

THE MARTIAL ARTS INCLUDING BOXING

"The martial ARTS are based upon understanding, hard work and a total comprehension of skills.

Power training and the use of force are easy, but total comprehension of all of the skills of the martial arts is very difficult to achieve. To understand you must study all of the natural movement in all living things.

Naturally you can understand the martial arts of others..."

THE HEART OF THE MARTIAL ARTS: Is Understanding Techniques

- "A lot of condensed movement...; a good technique includes quick changes, great variety and speed.

- To put the heart of the martial ARTS in your own heart and have it be a part of you means total comprehension and the use of a free style. When you have that you will know that there are no limits."

ACQUIRED TALENT & NATURAL TALENT

“...You may never fully understand all of it. And as you progress you know the true nature of the simple way... You observe nature's simple way. You experience a life you never had before.”

"Some people are born with good physiques, a sense of speed and a lot of stamina. That's fine. But in the martial arts everything you learn is an acquired skill.

Absorbing a martial art is like the experience of Buddhism. The feeling for it comes from the heart. You have the dedication to get what you know you need. When it becomes part of you, you know you have it. You succeed at it. You may never fully understand all of it. And as you progress you know the true nature of the simple way... You observe nature's simple way. You experience a life you never had before."
